The way used to find mental age was by taking the Standford-Binet tests. The scores of the Binet test were stated as mental age. The Binet tests were created with several age-graded problems that had to be solved. When you had your mental age, you had to divide it by your chronological age, which is your actual age. Once that you find the quotient of both your chronological and mental age you need to multiply the answer by 100. That is one way to find your intelligence quotient.
Then some years later they stated another way to find the intelligence quotient which replaced the other. This way had a less complicated process which is easier to do. To find the I.Q. this way is that you take a test. The I.Q. tests are administered in several subjects with questions relevant to your age, and depending on how many you get correct you get your intelligence quotient.
They are two ways to find I.Q. One is dividing mental age by chronological age and multiply it by 100. The other way is a test administered in several subjects and questions relevant to your age, and the I.Q. is stated depending on how many answers you get correct. Those are two very different ways to find the I.Q.
